Microinteractions are tiny, purposeful animations or feedback signals that can dramatically elevate a product’s UX. But they’re not just flourishes — they’re moments of clarity, confidence, and delight. I’ve seen firsthand how subtle changes can shift user perception.

In a budgeting app, I added a quick color flash when goals were hit. It triggered pride. In a shopping flow, a soft bounce on “Add to Cart” boosted engagement by 6%. These are not gimmicks — they’re emotional cues.

Microinteractions should be purposeful. They should communicate a system state or reduce uncertainty. Tools like Framer Motion and Lottie help — but the real power is in understanding timing, intent, and restraint. Too many effects, and you kill flow.

Great UI doesn’t scream — it whispers the right thing at the right time.
